Partnership

A strong team

A source of pride to us: We are the first hotel in Switzerland to use the hemp-derived active ingredient CBD in our spa. We have chosen a dependable partner in Kiara Naturals.

To guarantee consistent quality and the highest purity, every phase of the manufacturing process is closely monitored, from sowing to harvesting of the raw material through to manufacturing of the end product. Our spa uses Kiara Naturals in treatments and massages.

Find out more about CBD

One particular active ingredient has recently come into focus for pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturers worldwide: cannabidiol (CBD), a hemp-derived, non-psychoactive natural product that is legal in Switzerland. Any further questions? Read on.

What is CBD?
CBD is the acronym for cannabidiol, which is a cannabinoid. CBD has a calming and relaxing, anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic effect. Contrary to the well-known cannabinoid THC, CBD is not psychoactive.
What are the effects of CBD?
CBD is considered to be relaxing, spasmolytic and anti-inflammatory. Many users have had good experiences when feeling stressed or use it for sleep-related problems. Thousands of studies have shown a high medicinal potential with CBD and other cannabinoids. There are areas where CBD has already been medically and therapeutically implemented. Here at the SchlossHotel we work with CBD oil, CBD herbs at the sauna and CBD herbal teas that promote relaxation.
Do CBD products have an intoxicating effect?
No, CBD is not intoxicating and is considered not psychoactive as is the case with THC.
Is CBD legal?
Yes, in Switzerland CBD is legal. This is because, unlike THC, it has no psychoactive effect. There exist pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical products containing CBD.
Are there treatments and massages without CBD?
All treatments can certainly be carried out with CBD-free products. For this, we have a complete range of oils and products that are used in both invigorating or relaxing treatments.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are natural constituents and active ingredients of the hemp plant. They occur in the blossoms, leaves and stems of the hemp plant, the blossoms yielding the highest concentration of cannabinoids. There are also synthetical cannabinoids, however, the CBD used for Kiara products are exclusively plant-based. Until today, over 140 different cannabinoids have been identified in the hemp plant (Source:Pourseyed Lazarjani, M., Torres, S., Hooker, T. et al. Methods for quantification of cannabinoids: a narrative review. J Cannabis Res 2, 35 (2020). https://doi.org/10.1186/s42238-020-00040-2), the majority still needing to be more thoroughly researched. According to previous medical studies, it is clear that some of these cannabinoids have a enormous medicinal potential.
What is hemp?
Hemp (lat. cannabis sativa L) is an age-old cultivated, useful and healing plant. Since 3000 BC, the characteristically looking plant has been cultivated for its valuable plant parts. Textiles, sails, rope and paper are produced from its fibers, whereas the seeds are pressed into cooking oil containing a high content of valuable fatty acids. The seeds can also be directly consumed. The blossom and leaf have been used as a remedy in folk medicine against all kinds of diseases and ailments as well as a basis for the distillation of essential oils. These can for example be used in aromatherapy or in the production of perfumes and cosmetic products.
